Can Gisele Bündchen get any more stunning?

The gorgeous supermodel graced the cover of Vogue Brazil's December issue, looking flawless in an unbuttoned blue flannel shirt that showed off her bra.

Inside of the mag, the 33-year-old mother of two posed for a variety of sexy shots, lounging on a bed in a black sweater and lacy black panties in one photo, and topless with a white sheet around her in another.

"I think the theme of this photo shoot is really interesting, because it shows the glamorous side and the also the relaxed one," Bündchen said in the magazine. "A woman can look powerful in a party, but when she arrives at home all she wants is to feel comfortable."

Lady Gaga and the Muppets Fail to Bring in Ratings With Thanksgiving Special on ABC

 ABC

Talk about a ratings turkey.

Lady Gaga teamed up with the Muppets for an ABC special on Thanksgiving, which failed to reel in viewers on the holiday night. The 90-minute special, titled Lady Gaga & The Muppets Holiday Spectacular, only attracted 3.6 million viewers and a low 0.9 rating in the all-important adults 18-49 demo.

And while we would blame viewers just being too tired from all the turkey they consumed earlier in the night, the network's annual 8 p.m. repeat of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving brought in 5.6 million viewers and 1.6 rating.

NEWS: Check out how other stars celebrated Thanksgiving!

The low ratings for Gaga's special with the Muppets, which featured cameos from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sir Elton John and Kristen Bell, are especially shocking when compared to the ratings for her other ABC special, A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, which aired two years ago; that special brought in 5.4 million viewers and 1.6 rating.

Still, the ARTPOP artist wasn't too focused on the ratings of her special, tweeting her gratitude for her beloved monsters (that's Gaga-speak for fans, by the way).

"Happy Thanksgiving little turkey+tofurkey monsters, I love you with am, my heart and thought all day about how grateful I am to be," she posted on Thursday.

PHOTO: Check out Gaga hanging with the Muppets!

ABC

During the special, Gaga posted a nice message about the Muppets' creator Jim Henson, who died in 1990, writing that he "has to be one of the most far out dudes of all time."

After the special was announced, Gaga expressed her excitement over celebrating the holidays with the fuzzy gang.

"I was so excited when ABC called me about doing a holiday special this year," Gaga said in a statement earlier this month. "I knew it just wouldn't be a complete night of laughter and memories without The Muppets! Can't wait to see the gang again and I hope Miss Piggy's still not mad about Kermit. We're just friends!"

Prince William Reads to Children, Says Son Prince George "Likes Picture Books"

Prince William Jon Fuller-Rowell - WPA Pool/Getty Images

Prince William is back to fulfilling his royal commitments after rocking the stage with Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi.

After crooning alongside the duo to the rocker's "Livin' On a Prayer" at the Winter White Gala at Kensington Palace in London Tuesday, the Duke of Cambridge headed to St. Basils, which works to prevent youth homeleness, meeting up with its staff and residents.

While there, the prince toured the facilities and learned what it's like to work with the City of Birmingham and Centrepoint, of which he is a patron on the End Youth Homelessness Alliance.

Next, the royal headed over to the Library of Birmingham to take part in a children's reading group and meet some of the young entrepreneurs who use the library's facilities.

According to Hello Magazine, the new dad gushed about his four-month-old son George during the reading, reportedly telling the group his little one has "very chubby cheeks" and "likes looking at picture books."

And as for his rock star performance Tuesday, the prince added, "I'm not doing that again."

Prince William's day wasn't done just yet though when he left the library.

For his last engagement, he visited the Summerfield Community Centre and South and City College Birmingham to meet with community representatives and families affected by the 2011 deadly riots in Birmingham.

Prince William is next scheduled to head to the U.K. premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom with his wife Kate Middleton.

Tell Us What You're Thankful For This Year

Jason Merritt & Kevin Winter/Getty Images, Vanity Fair, Entertainment Weekly

Let us guess: You said "oh, I have to go to the bathroom, be right back" and now you're reading this on your phone between checking your Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, texts, Snapchat, so on and so forth.

Or maybe you slipped away from that drunken conversation about Obamacare and are hiding in the office. Wherever you are, however you got there, happy Thanksgiving. Now tell us what you're thankful for.

We're feeling so insanely #blessed this year, so we'll start. Here are just some of the bounty of things we're thankful for, presented in an acrostic poem.

NEWS: Here is our ode to the big deals and bigger disasters of Black Friday

Twerking. It's the gift that kept on giving this year.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Also, Jennifer Lawrence, for all the delightful things she says and she does.

All the pop stars that released albums this year (Britney, Gaga, Katy, Miley). They're the reason we're still dancing. If we're being completely honest, we would be more thankful if Beyoncé released one too, but maybe that's just greedy.

News stories like Batkid, which restore our faith in humanity.

Kerry Washington, always.

Stuffing. And all the other Thanksgiving foods we'll eat today. But mostly stuffing.

Gay marriage—here's hoping next year is as big a year for marriage equality as this one was.

iPhones and everything they do for us (see above: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, texting, sexting, Candy Crush, etc. Oh and apparently you can make calls with them too??)

coVen. As in, American Horror Story: Coven. We cheated a little to fit this one into our acrostic poem, but we had to include it somewhere. Every week you think there's no way the show could get any more insane, and next thing you know someone is having a threesome with Frankenstein.

Insert obligatory friends, family and health thanks here.

Never having to experience a big moment in pop culture alone, because we have all you amazing readers to share them with. We would be nothing without you all. Thank you.

Grey, Christian. But mostly just Jamie Dornan's face.

Bachelor Producer Gets Into Awesome Note-Passing Battle With Passenger on Thanksgiving Flight

by Brandi Fowler Thu., Nov. 28, 2013 7:53 PM PST

Twitter

Bachelor producer Elan Gale was just trying to make it home for Thanksgiving…and then an epic note-passing battle ensued.

After a disgruntled passenger kept complaining to the US Airways staff about their delayed flight Thursday, Gale decided to send her over a glass of wine and a note once the flight had taken off.

The only problem was what the note said...

"Dear Lady in 7A, it has come to my attention that today is your "Thanksgiving!" It must be hard to not be with your family! Please accept this glass of wine. It is a gift from me to you. Hopefully if you drink it, you won't be able to use your mouth to talk! Love, Elan," he wrote.

The woman in 7A wasn't amused and sent this note back:

Twitter

"Dear ‘Elan,' The wine wasn't funny. The vodka wasn't funny. You're an awful person with no compassion. I'm sorry for your family that they should have to deal with you. –Diane"

What came next was a note-passing battle for the records, with Elan and Diane passing notes back and forth to each other throughout the flight.

Diane wrapped up their note swapping by telling Elan she would be "speaking to the authorities when we land."

Elan quipped back, "When you speak to the authorities, please make sure they arrest you for cannibalism because you just ate my d-ck! Love, elan."

But, their hilarious interaction, which Elan detailed on his Twitter feed, wasn't over yet.

NEWS: The Bachelor's premiere date revealed

"Well, ‘Diane' just slapped me," Elan tweeted once they landed. "When I got off the plane I waited for her at the gate. I was holding another note in my hand and I was going to give it to her. She walked right up to me and slapped me immediately in the face."

A gate agent asked if he wanted to talk to the police, but said he would like to give her one final note instead.

Here's what it said:

"Diane, allow me to introduce myself. I am TheYearOfElan...Look me up online. Read every tweet. Read every response. And maybe next time you'll be nice to people who are just trying to help. PS, Eat My D-ck. Love Elan."

Elan went on to talk about the whole debacle on his Tumblr page.

Talk about an eventful Thanksgiving.

Howard Stern's Wife Makes ET's Power Women List

Howard Stern's wife Beth Stern made ET's Power Women of New York list for her work as a philanthropist and animal rights activist, and she opened up to ET's Rocsi Diaz about her passion for protecting animals.

Starting out as a model, Beth took an unconventional road for getting into the charitable work that she does now, but according to her it wasn't that much of a stretch.

"I've always been volunteering at animal shelters," said Beth. "I've always loved animals ... Now that I'm no longer modeling and I really don't have to make money, I'm able to spend my entire time working with animals."

Beth's hubby Howard admitted that he was surprised by his wife's distinction.

"I think the people who do the most are the ones who expect an honor like that the least," said Howard. "Beth just goes about doing her work."

Howard and Beth have been married for five years, and they told Rocsi that they treat their pets as kids. Their family album is a 2014 calendar, available now at animalleague.org.

Fashion Police's Black Friday Guide to Celeb Trends Worth Copying!

John Sciulli/Getty Images for The Weinstein Company

'Tis the 24 hours for frenzied discount Christmas shopping so we thought we'd send you out into the mayhem with a few of the top, celeb-inspired trends of right now. We say why bother with the jam packed mall parking lot if you're not going to grab the item making every A-lister's holiday list? Here is a cheat sheet to the perfect presents for everyone on your list...or just yourself.

Anything scarlet! Yes, Taylor Swift looks killer in this slinky cocktail dress because she's a gorgeous human being, but the color of the season makes any skin tone shine. We love it as a fancy party frock, but the shade is just as stylish in sweater, shirt or denim form.

A well-placed peep hole. We're all for sexy, but this season, it's best done by Victoria Beckham. The key-hole cutout in her silky black top gives the blouse plenty of edge without showcasing every side of her boobs, and it stays sophisticated, thanks to simple black slacks. The result: a look perfect for anything from date night at the movies to an end of year fete.

Jun Sato/WireImage

Winter white, done right. This column gown on Jennifer Garner is exactly the right way to wear summer's favorite shade into the cold weather months. It's a simple shape, it's sans bright-colored embellishments, the fabric is thick, and the Dallas Buyers Club star's body is fully covered. Pull that off and you'll be golden 'til May of 2014.

PHOTOS: See more celebs who wow in winter white

Jason Merritt/Getty Images

A sparkly mini. No holiday season wardrobe is complete without a sparkly mini dress like the one Alicia Silverstone is sporting. This Nicole Miller stunner has all the right elements: it's basic black, the gold detailing is simple but fun and it's super short!

ODD ANDERSEN/AFP/Getty Images

Outwear as actual wear. Baby, it's super cold outside, so a look like this Dior coat on Jennifer Lawrence is a good one to have on the ready. Her double-breasted swing coat fits like a dress making perfect for a city shopping day.

Find one first thing and you can have it all Black Friday long while you shop for the rest of the items on this must have list. Good luck!

Kristen Stewart Steps Out With Her Dad After Thanksgiving

Kristen Stewart AKM-GSI

What better way to spend the holidays than with family?

Kristen Stewart did exactly that this Thanksgiving weekend, as the Twilight star was spotted with her father John Stewart outside of their family home in Los Angeles on Friday, Nov. 29.

Wearing her signature sunnies and the "Mercenaries" trucker hat she's so very fond of, the 23-year-old actress showed off her new arm tattoo, which she debuted earlier in the week while walking her dog.

PHOTO: Stewart flashes new tat and wears funky glasses while walking her dog

Back in August, Stewart sported a similar tattoo in the same spot while filming Sils Maria, in which she plays a personal assistant to an actress, and it seems like she committed to a more permanent version of body art on her inner right forearm.

Of course, this wouldn't be Stewart's first tattoo; Stewart got her first tattoo back in June in Nashville, Tenn. An insider at the tattoo parlor told E! News Stewart was "supersweet, real shy" when she came in with a group of five friends to get a small tattoo in her wrist.

Stewart's parents, whose divorce is still pending after her mother Jules Stewart filed in 2012, recently put their Alice in Wonderland-themed home on the market for $1.75 million. The home includes a portrait of the White Rabbit decorates one exterior wall, a painting of the Queen of Hearts and one of her knaves and a big chess set next to the pool.

"We'd known each other music-wise, but we got to see each other as people. And I've got to tell you, if you like her and don't know her, you'll love her. If you love her and don't know her, you'll worship her. She's the real deal."

In addition to her music career, Yearwood has her own cooking show and has released three cookbooks. Brooks was quick to praise his wife's many talents, saying, "She's the bomb, man. She does it all." And as for her voice, Brooks boasted, "I'll put her in the top five female voices of all time. She's that good."

Christina Aguilera's "Say Something" Collaboration With A Great Big World: How Did It Happen?

Ian Axel, A Great Big World, Christina Aguilera Lester Cohen/WireImage

Life for A Great Big World (aka, the musical duo of Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino) is moving at warp speed.

Their collaboration with Christina Aguilera on "Say Something" has, quite simply, completely changed their careers.

Xtina first heard the song while watching So You Think You Can Dance. "And then we got a call and were in L.A. like a week later recording with her," Vaccarino said as he and Axel walked the red carpet at the 2013 American Music Awards.

Not long after that, they were performing the ballad with Xtina on The Voice. "We were touring and we canceled some shows to make it happen," Axel said. "Everything was happening so fast."

And to think it was Aguilera's wish not to be at the center of the song. "She's just connecting with the song and singing so vulnerably," Axel said. "We wanted her to take a verse on it and she's like, 'No, I want to let the song be. I want to let it breath and be open.' We were just floored by the whole thing."

Most of what we hear in the rereleased single happened "in the first few takes," Axel said.

"You have to be on your game," Vaccarino said.

"She's a really fast learner," Axel added. "The process was actually really fast, just going back and forth and trying different lines. She's super pro."

And then there was shooting the video for the song.

"That was like another world," Vaccarino gushed. "I don't know if you've ever been to Jurassic Park or ET at Universal Studios, but it felt like that. It literally was like walking into another world."

"We had never done a video shoot like that before," Axel said. "Our last video was one camera and at our friend's Christmas party."

Black Nativity: 5 Things to Know About This Holiday Musical

Black Nativity, Holiday Movie Guide Maven Pictures

Ready for some holiday cheer?

A celebrated gospel play by Langston Hughes gets an update in this heartfelt (if saccharine) melodrama. Jacob Latimore stars as Langston (yep, named for the writer), a streetwise teen who lives in Baltimore with his single mother, Naima (Jennifer Hudson).

Strapped for cash, Naima sends Langston to New York City to spend Christmas with her estranged parents, Reverend Cornell and Aretha Cobbs (Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett). Unwilling to live by the strict preacher's rules, Langston looks for a way to return home while also trying to uncover secrets that tore his family apart.

Before you behold this Nativity, check out these five joyous facts:

PHOTOS: Find out what to see at the movie theatres this weekend

Birth of the Show: Hughes' Black Nativity was first performed in the late 1950s (as Wasn't That a Mighty Day) and later opened on Broadway in 1961. A retelling of the classic Christmas story, the play incorporated traditional carols sung in gospel style, plus a few original songs. Despite its ongoing popularity, the show, like a dream deferred, seemed impossible to adapt for the big screen. That changed when producer Celine Rattray and actress/director Kasi Lemmons discovered their mutual passion for the project and decided to give the musical a more contemporary context.

Dream Girl: Lemmons always envisioned Hudson for the role of Naima, even while writing the screenplay. An Oscar winner for Dreamgirls, Hudson wasn't looking to do another musical at this point in her career, but she was intrigued by the project and agreed to read the Nativity script. She fell in love with the story and became a champion of the film. As expected, Hudson totally kills it on all her songs, especially the rousing spiritual "Be Grateful." That's a powerhouse voice to be grateful for.

From Butler to Pastor, From Witch to Wife: The star of Lee Daniels' The Butler, Whitaker trades his White House tux for Baptist Church vestments to play Reverend Cobbs. Whitaker had never appeared in a movie musical before (though he had played jazz giant Charlie Parker in Clint Eastwood's Bird), but after Lemmons saw YouTube footage of him singing she knew he was perfect for the part. Bassett, currently casting voodoo spells on American Horror Story: Coven, mixes it up as a devout preacher's wife. Though she was directed by Whitaker in Waiting to Exhale, this is the first time the two have shared the screen.

Hark! The Herald Actors Sing: Talented musicians round out the supporting cast, including Grammy-nominated R&B songwriter, model and actor Tyrese Gibson (Fast and Furious), who plays pawnshop hawker Loot. Rap star (as Nas) and songwriter Nasir Jones is the street prophet Isaiah, while Grace Gibson and Luke James—as homeless versions of Mary and Joseph—duet on a lovely rendition of "Silent Night." Most heavenly of all, legendary soul singer Mary J. Blige sports angel wings while wailing "Rise Up Shepherd and Follow." Hmm, "No More Drama (No More Pain)" would've worked, too.

A Sense of Community: It was important to Nativity's filmmakers that they shoot in Harlem, where Hughes arrived in the 1920s and helped spark the creative movement known as the "Harlem Renaissance." A resident of the neighborhood herself, Lemmons wanted to portray Harlem as it is today—multicultural and trendy but also with rich history and character. She and her team used numerous Harlem actors and locations, including a historical brownstone—a small hotel previously converted into a private home—that served as the Cobbs' residence.

Adobe expands Photoshop Photography Program to everyone

Adobe has extended - and expanded - a deal to Photoshop photographers who seek a streamlined and low-cost alternative to the £45 per month Creative Cloud membership.

The company has announced that beginning Wednesday, and ending on 2 December, its Photoshop Photography Program is now open to everyone, whether or not they now own or ever have owned Photoshop.

Adobe insists that it is not simply luring people into Creative Cloud at an introductory price in order to jack up the price later. This £8.78 subscription price is ongoing and includes Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5, 20GB of server space, and a Behance Pro website. The bundle offers the latest versions of Photoshop CC and Lightroom, including feature updates and upgrades as they are available, just like a regular Creative Cloud subscription.

When this offer debuted in September, only owners of Photoshop CS3 and higher were eligible for the deal. Now, everyone can get into the act until the beginning of December.

Upon expiration, the Photoshop Photography Program will continue to be available for £8.78 per month to owners of previous versions of Photoshop Extended, or Creative Suite, version CS3 or later (CS3.x, CS4, CS5.x, or CS6). That offer expires 31 December 2013.

This Photography Program provides Creative Cloud benefits plus Lightroom at half the price that Photoshop subscribers once paid for that subscription alone. The deal requires an annual commitment with monthly billing, just like other Creative Cloud subscriptions.

More information is available on Adobe's website.

3D printing community rallies to create £3 hand for 12-year-old boy

12-year-old Leon McCarthy shows off his 3D printed hand, which cost about £3 in materials to make on a MakerBot 3D desktop printer

Leon McCarthy is just like many other 12-year-olds. He loves sports and cool technology.

The difference for Leon is that cool 3D printer technology has allowed his family to print him a prosthetic hand that they otherwise couldn't afford. And, with that hand, Leon can catch a football.

Leon showed off the third iteration of a hand made of £3 in plastic material at the opening of 3D printer company MakerBot's second retail store in Boston, USA on Thursday.

Due to a congenital birth defect, Leon has no fingers on his left hand. Until recently, doctors told his family he shouldn't even consider a custom-engineered prosthesis due to the high cost – $10,000 to $80,000 depending on quality.

About a year and a half ago a friend of Paul McCarthy, Leon's father, purchased an industrial 3D printer for his product design company. He told that McCarthy he believed it could be used to create an inexpensive prosthetic hand.

3D printing (also known as additive manufacturing) works by laying down consecutive layers of materials – plastics, ceramics or metals – from the bottom up to create an object. The printable objects, created in a computer-aided design program, are sliced into many layers by another computer program, which tells the printer head where to deposit materials on the printer table.

CAD designs, which come in a stereolithography .stl file format, are abundant on the Internet and can be downloaded mostly for free.

Paul McCarthy downloaded a free design for a "Robohand" posted on Thingiverse, the most popular website for sharing CAD files. With that, and about $150 in parts, Leon's first prosthetic hand was printed.

South African carpenter Richard Van As, who'd worked with Ivan Owen, a special effects artist and puppeteer in Bellingham, Wash, created the original prosthetic hand blueprints.

Van As had accidentally cut off his fingers on a table saw and found Owen after viewing his YouTube video about developing a mechanical puppet hand.

The original prosthetic hand design was functional but not aesthetically polished.

"We called it Frankenhand, because it had bolts and screws sticking out of it," Paul McCarthy said.

Earlier this year, National Public Radio published a story about young Leon's first printed hand. The article caught the eye of Bill Sullivan, a science teacher at a charter school near the McCarthy's hometown of Marblehead, Mass.

Sullivan had recently used a grant to obtain a MakerBot desktop 3D printer the McCarthy's they could use the machine to create new prosthetic hands.

Due to a congenital birth defect, Leon has no fingers on his left hand.

Working with others in the Google Plus prosthetics development community, e-NABLE, Paul McCarthy has improved the prosthetic hand's design and printed out the second iteration that requires about $5 in plastic materials.

Today, Leon is using his third generation hand. Each new version offers him more motion and capabilities.

Paul said work is now underway on making an articulating thumb and more rounded knuckles to get a better grip. He's also designed a 3D printed cuff for his son's forearm to replace the soccer shin guard they were using to attach the hand. The ultimate goal, Paul said, is for his son to be able to tie his own shoes using the prosthetic hand.

Leon's got his own ideas. "I want to put a laser on it and a pencil sharpener," he said.

MakerBot has helped the Paul's redesign the prosthetic hand so that instead the screws used in the original "Frankenhand," it snaps together. There's a bit of hot glue and duct tape to keep it all together under pressure.

Fishing line is used to give the fingers action. The line runs through channels in the fingers secured with a knot at the tip of the finger on one side and to a base toward the elbow side of the device. "Thin bungee cords run through the top of the fingers and secure at the knuckles to return fingers to open position upon release," Paul McCarthy said.

There are multiple parts to be printed. Each of three or four printings takes one to two hours. With a bit more experience, Paul McCarthy believes he could produce more parts in a single print, reducing the number of printing jobs to one or two.

MakerBot, whose founder created the Thingiverse website in 2009, has been key in enabling designs to be uploaded for others to use. Since Thingiverse was created, more than 150,000 CAD designs, from toys and mechanical parts to medical devices, have been uploaded to the open website by "makers," the 3D printer user community.

Meanwhile, MakerBot is on its fourth generation 3D printer, the MakerBot Replicator 2.

The company has also come out with a 3D scanner, called the MakerBot Digitizer, that can scan an object with lasers and record the image on a camera. The scanned image is then transposed into a file that can be uploaded to the printers to re-create the object. While not always a precise copy -- a 3D printed replica can be off in size by as much as 2 millimeters - a scanner can be used to create multiple, functional objects.

Bre Pettis, who co-founded MakerBot in 2009, was on hand at the store opening to cut a ceremonial ribbon and wax poetic about a 3D printer industry today that he says is not unlike that of the personal computer industry in the early 1980s.

In 1981, Bre said his parents purchased their first computer, an Apple II. It was a pivotal event in his life, Bre said.

"I can really credit the fact that my folks as early adopters and got me into computers when I was nine as being one of those things that got me here today - having access to technology," Bre said.

Bre Pettis, co-founder of MakerBot, stands behind the fourth generation of his company's desktop 3D printer at the opening of a Boston retail store.

Bre created his first 3D printer because he was enamored with the technology, but he couldn't afford his own.

"They were like a hundred thousand to millions of dollars to get one. We didn't know any better, so we decided to try it out and make one," he said.

Together with Adam Mayer, and Zach "Hoeken" Smith, Bre built the first MakerBot, which came as a bunch of components that had to be assembled by the user.

Today, MakerBot Replicator 2 3D printers come fully assembled and have a starting price of around £1,500.

Pettis has also started a crowdsourcing campaign to create a fund that will allow schools to get their own 3D printers.

The initiative, a partnership between MakerBot, America Makes, and Autodesk, began on Nov. 12 and allows people to pledge money to DonorsChoose.org, a crowdfunding site just for teachers. Teachers can then register on DonorsChoose.org for a MakerBot printer.

Motorola and 3D Systems to offer 3D-printed customised smartphones

Motorola has signed a multi-year deal with the first maker of 3D printers and services to build mobile phone parts that can be functionally and aesthetically customised for owners.

The business partnership with 3D Systems will lead to "a continuous high-speed 3D printing production platform in support of Motorola's Project Ara, an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones.

Motorola's Project Ara is an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones.

"With Project Ara, we asked the question, 'How do we bring the benefits of customization and an open hardware ecosystem to 6 billion people?' That is our driving application. It requires technical advances in areas such as material strength and printing with conductive inks for antennas," Regina Dugan, head of Motorola's Advanced Technology & Projects group, said in a statement.

"And those advances must support production-level speeds and volumes, which is a natural partnership with 3D Systems," she added.

If the development phase of the deal is a success, 3D Systems is expected to be Motorola's exclusive manufacturer for Project Ara smartphone enclosures and modules, the companies said.

Avi Reichental, CEO of 3D Systems, said his companies machines – combined with Motorola's phone designs – will help create "the factory of the future."

3D printing (also known as additive manufacturing) works by laying down consecutive layers of materials – either plastics, ceramics or metals – from the bottom up to create an object. The printable objects, created using a computer-aided design program, are sliced into many layers by another computer program, which tells the printer head where to deposit materials on the printer table.

"3D printing promotes a level of sustainability, functionality, and mass personalization that turns these kinds of global ambitions into attainable local realities," Reichental said.

As part of this agreement, 3D Systems plans to substantially expand its multi-material printing capabilities, including the use of conductive and functional materials. The company also plans to combine additive and subtractive manufacturing methods, and deliver an integrated high-speed production platform.

Motorola and 3D Systems previously partnered on the MAKEwithMOTO tour, a series of make-a-thons at the nation's top engineering and design schools that created open, hackable smartphone hardware and 3D printing to begin seeding an open hardware ecosystem.

Stunning paper universe crafted for Sony PlayStation game 'Tearaway'

MPC and 180 Amsterdam partnered with RSA Director Rob Blishen to create a paper universe for the new Sony PlayStation game "Tearaway."

In the 30-second ad, viewers are transported to the game’s paper world of adventure thanks to a real-life paper world created at 1:12 scale, integrated with green screen and shot elements.

London-based creative studio MPC worked with Blishen to craft the miniature sets and scaled paper puppets, using stop motion and a live action shoot with matched moves, MPC said in a press release. These elements were integrated with discreet 3D and 2D work and set extensions.

A behind the scenes look at MPC's paper world.

MPC explains more about the spot’s VFX in its press release:

"Following a detailed 3D pre-vis, a miniature scale hand made paper set was constructed on a series of decks. As the protagonist is life-size and shot against green screen, the camera moves were extremely limited. Each camera move in the miniature world had to be scaled up twelve times, which meant a large studio space was required in order to shoot up to twelve meters away from the actor and only very short panning moves were feasible on the paper set."

"Matte paintings extended the sets, which were built on 5x3 meter platforms. The ice segment, desert world and canyon all consisted of DMP backgrounds, which were first built in 3D to act as a realistic base before being painted. 3D character models were supplied by Media Molecule, keeping the characters true to the game, which were then rigged and animated at MPC."
